James F Stafford Family

Francis "Webb" Bettle⁽¹⁾ was born in 1873. He died in 1961.
NOTE: Frances' first wife was Katherine Stafford. After Katerine's death, Webb married Grace Siegrist (1880-1946). They had four children: Albert Francis, Katherine (named after Katherine Stafford), Margaret, and Clayton Webb.

Webb's parents were Francis E. Bettle (1836-1915) and Nancy Shaw (1839-1926).

Alice Bichmann ⁽¹⁾ was born on 24 Jan 1930 in Baltimore, MD. She died on 1 Apr 2000. She was buried in Dulaney Valley Cemetery.

Joanne Driscoll⁽¹⁾ was born in 1842. Parents: James Driscoll and Lucy Sullivan .

Katherine E Driscoll⁽¹⁾ was born on 14 Feb 1845 in St John, CAN. She died on 22 Aug 1907 in Aurora, IN. She was buried in Aurora, IN.
NOTE: Katherine was largely left on her own due to James's travels to maintain income. Letters indicate she was very loved, and instilled discipline and religion to the children. It seems she was a devout Catholic and made sure many of their children were baptised. It is interesting to note that upon moving to Aurora, the children became Probationers at the First Methodist Church of Aurora. Legend tells us that Kateherine told their oldest girl Alice, to go to the nearest and largest available church since a Catholic church was not nearby. Alice came upon the Methodist Church, and the rest is history. However, Jim Jr. and I have found records indicating a Catholic Church existed in Aurora at the time. This can potentially be explained by the fact that James F. and Katherine had disagreements over religion. My experience with my father and mother involve only exposures to the Methodist Church. Perhaps this gives us some evidence of James F's religion, which was noted as Church of England, in the 1881 Canadian Census, i.e., Episcopalian.

Family letters tell us that Katherine so loved her daughter Kate, that she died of a broken heart within two years of Kate's death while giving birth. Parents: James Driscoll and Lucy Sullivan .

She was married to James Freeborn Sr Stafford in 1869. Children were: Jack H Stafford, Alice Stafford, William John Stafford, James Freeborn Jr Stafford, Katherine Stafford, Lucy Stafford, Elizabeth (Bess) Stafford, Jane Irene Stafford, James Freeborn Jr Stafford.
